  4. What was a typical Egyptian family like (roles of each person in the household, daily routine by each person…)?

  5. What crops did Egyptian grow, and how did they grow them (agricultural methods, tools, irrigation…)?

  6. What foods did the Egyptians eat and how did they prepare (cook…) them?

  7. How was the Egyptian social system/ levels organized?

  8. What were some of the most significant Egyptian occupations, and how did they perform their jobs?

  9. What was the scribe’s unique role in Egypt, and how was he prepared for his job?

  10. What were the common illnesses and treatments in Egypt, and who treated the sick?

Cultural Impact of the Ancient Egyptians

1. What was the impact of the discovery of the Rosetta Stone? Discuss how it was used to break the code of hieroglyphics.

2. Why was the discovery of the tomb of King Tutankhamun so important to archeologists and their understanding of the ancient Egyptians? Discuss how it was located, what was discovered in the tomb, and how the world responded to this historical archeological event.

3. Why were so many people convinced that the tomb of King Tut was cursed? Discuss what specific events led to this theory?

4. How did the building of the Aswan Dam have an impact on agriculture and archeological sites along the Nile.  Discuss the purpose of the dam and how it affected life in Egypt.
