Guidelines

  • Length: 2-3 pages, double-spaced, typed, 12 point font, New Times Roman.
  • Sources: Works Cited comprised of at least 3 sources.
    • At least one (1) book source (Your book source must be used and cited a significant number of times.)
    • At least one (1) database, e-book, online journal or non-internet source. Use the Library Resources link on the research module page.
    • One or more of your sources may be an Internet site. The CRAAP Test evaluation form must be filled out on each Internet site you use. The Internet article(s) and all CRAAP Test evaluation forms must be printed out and handed in with the final paper.
    • Your textbook cannot count as a source.
    • Wikipedia cannot count as a source.
  • Documentation style: MLA format. Use NoodleTools to produce a Works Cited list in MLA format

Research Recommendations

1. Go to the Grade Level Research Projects box on the Library Resource Page.  The link to the Library Resource Page is found on the FWCD Library home page.

2.Click on the Grade 8 Tab.

3.Click on 8th Grade World History link.

4.Notice the Guidelines box with the Source requirements.

5.Notice the Library Resource Passwords in the top left box.  You will occasionally be prompted for usernames and passwords with the FWCD databases.  Also, you can access any FWCD databases from home using these passwords.

6.Open a new tab and login to your FWCD email account in Google. Now you are also logged in to Google Drive.

Saving research documents in EBSCOhost

1. Open a new Google doc in

2. Once you have found a quality source, go to the Save link on the right hand side of the screen under Tools.

3.Click Save.

4.At the top of the screen click the gold SAVE button.

5.Your article will open in a new screen.

6.Copy the link that says Cut and Paste.

7.Paste it the link into your Google doc.  You might want to make a note under or above the link to remind yourself what the article is about.

Saving research documents in Gale databases (Student Resources in Context)

1. Make sure you are signed in to your Google Drive.

2.Once you have found a quality source, click download on the right hand side of the screen.

3.You will be prompted to select a format to download.  Click Save to Google drive.

4.Click the blue Download button.

5.When you open your Google Drive the article will be in an orange folder labeled Student Resources. 

Saving research documents in ABC-CLIO

6. Make sure you are signed in to your Google Drive.

7.Once you have found a quality source, click Save.

8.A box entitled Send to my cloud will pop up.  Click Google drive.

9.Click the blue Save button.

When you open your Google Drive the ABC-CLIO article will be with your documents.

FWCD Library Database Passwords

Login and password information is also available for parents in the Resources section of your FWCD portal account.

NoodleTools

NoodleTools uses Single Sign-On with your FWCD Google account, so you don't need a separate login and password. 
 

1) Log in to your FWCD email account.

2) Click on the "waffle" (grid) at the top right corner, and keep scrolling until you find the NoodleTools app.

3) Choose your FWCD email account to login.
