What is it?
A bibliography is a list of sources used to gather information. An annotation is an explanation or summary. Therefore, an annotated bibliography is an explanation or summary of sources used.
What is the purpose of an annotated bibliography?
Writing an annotated bibliography helps you learn about your topic. It's a great way to prepare for an assignment or research project. Having to write an explanation for each source rather than just gather sources forces you to read critically and understand the content.
What is the format?
The annotation for each source is written in paragraph form. The length of the annotation depends on the teacher's requirement or on the purpose of the research. Generally, 3-5 sentences will really help when you are ready to write your paper.
**Use NoodleTools to create your annotated bibliography. There is space allotted for the annotation (while in edit mode) at the end of each citation. When you export your bibliography, the annotation will be included.
